Abstract. The article is devoted to the creative work of A. A. Bestuzhev-Marlinsky - one of the brilliant Russian writers - romanticists, who laid the foundation for the artistic and ethnographic study of the North Caucasus and the mountain girl theme. His story "Ammalat-Bek" represents the gender worldview of the southern borders of Russia in the middle of the XIX century. The principle of romantic two-worldness, the North Caucasian frontier and the collision "male-female" in their integrity determined the intensity of artistic conflict of the story. The formation of Bestuzhev’s gender archetypes was greatly influenced by the traditional in the world literature motives of "Fair Lady Cult" and "Faust Complex", which acquire Caucasian interpretation in the story. The female viewpoint is distinguished by denial of war and violence, disapproval of men’s militaristic consciousness.
