SPECIFICITY OF SPATIAL-TEMPORAL SEMANTICS OF ADJECTIVAL COMBINATIONS OF THE LEXEME "GOSSIP"

Abstract. The problem of studying lexico-semantic relations of words is one of the key ones in modern lexicology. The article analyzes the specificity of the lexical compatibility of the lexeme "gossip" with the adjectives of two lexico-semantic groups with the meaning "spatial location" and "temporal characteristic". The author concludes that the basic spatial characteristic of the lexeme "gossip" is realized through such locus as "city" considered as a multifactor complicated social and cultural establishment, and the basic temporal characteristic of "gossip" is continuum on the scale "description of origin".
