Abstract. The article reveals a unique feature of the language system - with the help of the reduplication mechanism to create neologisms that enrich the vocabulary of modern English by emphasizing the most diverse shades of meaning, thus imparting a vivid character to the discourse in this language. It is noted that reduplicative word combinations often turn into idioms, which are characterrized by figurativeness and "live" sounding. It makes speech memorable and discourse emotionally colored and vivid. Due to the rhythmic sound, dual idioms allow native speakers to take advantage of the marked language for certain purposes, as well as original opportunities for self-expression in written and oral speech.
Key words and phrases: механизм редупликации, редуплицированные словосочетания, современный английский дискурс, эмфатизация, аблаут, reduplication mechanism, reduplicative word combinations, modern English discourse, emphatization, ablaut.
