Abstract. The article discusses the features of the poetic universals "border", "threshold", "way", their meaning and role in the formation of the chronotopic structure of the Yakut novel by the example of works by I. M. Gogolev, V. S. Solovyov-Bolot Bootur, N. G. Zolotarev-Yakutsky and V. S. Yakovlev-Dalan. The author examines their functioning in the context of the problem of a man in the novel, who undergoes evolution from a single person to a "seeker", a "cognizing" hero. An attempt is made to identify the spatial markers of "one’s own - somebody else’s" through the lenses of the problem of Otherness. Special attention is also paid to the national basis of the world perception, mythological images of space, which find a peculiar representation in literary texts.
Key words and phrases: якутский роман, хронотоп, поэтика границы, мотив пути, эволюция героя, Yakut novel, chronotope, poetics of border, motive of way, evolution of character
