SEMANTICS AND FUNCTIONING OF VERBS OF MAINTAINING CONTACT ВОДИТЬ, ВСТРЕЧАТЬСЯ, ЗНАТЬ, РАЗГОВАРИВАТЬ IN THE MODERN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. In the article, some synonymous verbs of the lexico-semantic group with the meaning ‘maintaining contact’ are considered in terms of their semantics and functioning in the modern Russian language. The data of explanatory dictionaries are compared with the results of a survey of native speakers and the peculiarities of using the verbs in modern texts. During the process of describing the verbs, special attention was paid to combinative power, the use of a limited number of fixed lexical and grammatical constructions, and belonging to the group of the active or passive vocabulary of modern native speakers.
