Abstract. The article is devoted to the consideration of the information genres presented in the pages of periodical printed editions. During the research such information genres as "survey", "question - answer", "note", "information interview", "information report", "obituary", "report" are subjected to comprehensive description. The authors establish that the meaning of the term "speech genre" should be considered from the position of the following components: "genre - text", "genre - model", "genre - form of speech", "genre - part of communicative event". Also, the paper reveals the meaning of such notions as "periodical printed edition" and "journal".
