SEME ANALYSIS OF PROCEDURAL PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN THE COMPARATIVE ASPECT (BY THE EXAMPLE OF RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LITERARY WORKS)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the seme analysis of English and Russian procedural phraseological units in the literary texts of the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. Firstly the author describes the seme analysis method and makes a retrospective journey into the history of seme studies. Then she justifies the role of procedural phraseological units in the creation of personages’ images and readers’ specific mood. The paper provides the classification of semes, which includes categorial, sub-categorial, cluster-type, grammatical and connotative semes, and considers their representation in the phraseological units of the chosen literary works.
