PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS WITH THE COMPONENT - COLOUR TERM BLAU (BLUE) IN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article examines the nominative and functional potential of the German phraseological units with the component - colour term blau (blue) , which constitutes the nucleus of the German colour worldview. Cultural determination of colour terms conditions the importance of a certain colour for native speakers’ culture. The author concludes that the colour term blau (blue) has a wide range of meanings - it symbolizes uncertainty, ambiguity, distrust, lie and disappointment.
