AXIOLOGICAL CONNOTATION OF A PROPER NAME: DYNAMIC ASPECT

Abstract. The article identifies the evaluative component of connotation of different categories of proper names (not only anthroponyms but also toponyms, ergonyms, et al.), which have not been previously subjected to a comprehensive analysis aimed to reveal stadial changes in an onym’s axiological connotation. The findings have allowed the author to define axiological connotation of a proper name, to show its dynamic nature, dependence of the evaluative component of meaning on an onym’s development stage. The paper proposes recommendations on how the acquired results can be used in lexicographical practice.
