MUSIC ROLE IN NONSENSE IDEA IMPLEMENTATION IN V. V. NABOKOV’S NOVEL "INVITATION TO A BEHEADING"

Abstract. The article studies musical motives role in the plot-compositional structure of V. V. Nabokov’s novel "Invitation to a Beheading". The role of musical details and images in differentiating the irrational world of "nonnons" and the rational world of the main character Cincinnatus is revealed. The peculiarity of musical motives purpose in "Invitation to a Beheading" is determined in comparison with the writer’s other works. The aim of the paper is to reveal music’s role in the realization of nonsense poetics in the novel and in its content interpretation. The author presents a new view on the features of V. V. Nabokov’s artistic method, who uses musical images in his novel in a non-trivial way.
