THE RUSSIAN CIVIL SERVANT THROUGH THE LENSES OF PROVERBIAL PHRASES TRACING THEIR ORIGIN TO THE RUSSIAN LITERARY WORKS

Abstract. The article examines the peculiarities of the functioning of proverbial phrases tracing their origin to the Russian literary works. Proverbial phrases containing the seme "civil servant" in their meaning are analysed as the verbalizers of the CIVIL SERVANT concept; their place in the semantic field is identified. After analysing dictionary meanings, the frequency of proverbial phrases containing the seme "civil servant" according to the Russian National Corpus data and differences in their usage in the texts of the XIX-XXI centuries, the authors conclude about the prevalence of negative civil servant images in the Russian linguistic worldview.
