TROPE ACTUALIZATION WHEN CHARACTERIZING A HUMAN BEING IN THE FRENCH POLITICAL DISCOURSE

Abstract. The article identifies the stylistic means used to characterize a human being in the modern French political discourse. The authors consider the relevant problem of the mass media political discourse and analyse the linguistic means of expressiveness, which serve to characterize a politician in the French press. The findings indicate that the most frequent tropes used to characterize politicians in the modern French political discourse are metaphor, metonymy, epithet and irony.
