VERBAL REPRESENTATION OF PROTOTYPICAL GENDER FEATURE IN THE NAKH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article examines one of the means of verbalization (linguistic expression) of the prototypical gender feature dividing the Nakh community members into categories: a man vs. a woman. It turned out that the first gender feature fixed in the Nakh mentality is not prototypically associated with biological understanding of gender. Language describes gender features, which represent the qualities of male and female fundamentals. They serve as clear cognitive markers for a speech agent and become a social norm, on which a behavioural model is based.
