SEMANTIC-DISCURSIVE VARIATION OF ADJECTIVES IN THE KABARDINO-CIRCASSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article considers discursive variation of qualitative adjectives "хужь" ("white"), "фIыцIэ" ("black") and "плъыжь" ("red") in the Kabardino-Circassian language. Identification of discursive variants of word meanings makes it possible to explicate adjectival meanings, which are initially implicit or implicated in a certain type of discourse. The findings lead to the conclusion that semantic-discursive variations are conditioned both by the nature of the Kabardino-Circassian language and by the author’s intention.
