Abstract. In the article the issues of graphic art of the so called "provincial" painters of the second half of the XXth century are discussed. The numerous examples confirm the fact that it was the province that was the source of creative phenomena, the ground for the creative revelation of peculiar and talented personalities. It was the province that became the reliable and stable ground for the origination, development and preservation of historical-cultural and artistic traditions, in particular, the preservation of the mechanism of succession from one generation to another and the genetic code of a creative personality, his/her bright individuality. In the article the role of province of the second half of the XXth century in the development and enrichment of Russian fine art with new names of talented painters is revealed.
