GREAT NORTHERN WAR: RUSSIAN MODERNIZATION FIRST EXPERIENCE

Abstract. The author researches military factor as Russian modernization mechanism by the example of the Great Northern War, emphasizes the wholeness of modernization processes in Russia as the keystone to their successful implementation and comes to the main conclusion that the Great Northern War only started to transform Russian society in the first quarter of the XVIIIth century in economic and social spheres and weakly affected politics and spiritual values.
