SOCIAL ACTIVITY OF ZEMSTVO SELF-GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES ON ASSISTANCE TO SICK AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITHIN VORONEZH AND KURSK PROVINCES DURING THE PERIOD OF THE RUSSIAN-JAPANESE WAR (1904-1905)

Abstract. The author describes the forms and methods of zemstvo authorities' social support of the sick and wounded participants of the Russian-Japanese war and their families, substantiates the factors that determined the effectiveness of the self-government structures activity, and shows that zemstvo self-government institutions successfully used such effective form of wounded soldiers support as medical-care detachments, which were sent directly to frontline areas.
