SPECIFICITY OF ASTRAKHAN' MERCHANTS' CULTURE IN THE XIXTH CENTURY: EVERYDAY LIFE AND HOLIDAYS

Abstract. The author considers the specificity of the Russian merchants' everyday life within Astrakhan' in the XIXth century, analyzes the dynamics of the changes in the merchant class lifestyle, which reflects the general tendencies of the economic and social-cultural development of the country, and meanwhile pays particular attention to the special features of Astrakhan' merchants' everyday culture that is associated with the special climate and landscape characteristics of Lower Volga region, as well as the multi-ethnic composition of Astrakhan' province population.
