CIVIC VALUES OF PEASANTRY OF WESTERN REGION OF RUSSIA IN THE 1920S

Abstract. The author reveals the attitude of Russia Western region peasantry to civic values, which are understood as the totality of an individual's rights, freedoms and responsibilities in the society, in the 1920s. The peasantry of the Western region of Russia both before and after the revolution strived for the just resolution of arising conflicts. It was facilitated by the traditions of volost and community legal proceedings that after the revolution were expressed in conciliation courts activity. Peasants aspired to solve arising problems on their own to the best of their abilities, but revolutionary legal consciousness strengthened the contradictory attitude to the authorities.
