Abstract. The author considers the question of understanding the term mise en scene in the Russian director school outstanding representatives' theoretical works within the ХХth century, as well as the technique of a notion assimilation in students-directors' training practice and pays special attention to the theoretical analysis of the term choral mise en scene which has never been studied before to the full extent within the given timeframe.
