Abstract. The author describes mass violence phenomenon in Ulster in the 20s of the XXth century, which is associated with traditional relations collapse and British regime system crisis in Ireland, and concludes that violence was provoked not only by the aggravated traditional rivalry between two Ulster subcultures during the social-economic crisis period, but also by the clash of various political elites' interests in Britain and Ireland, which manipulated sectarian hostility.
