Abstract. The author considers the process of Soviet-Japanese collaboration development in the sphere of culture within the Far East in 1950-1960s, determines the main stages in Primor'e and Khabarovsk territories and Japan twin cities movement formation, and ascertains that cultural contacts between soviet Far Eastern cities and the Land of the Rising Sun established the foundation for the further development of bilateral relations.
