MASS DESTRUCTION WEAPONS PROBLEM IN LIBYA

Abstract. The author considers Libya refusal of mass destruction weapons (MDW) development programmes on December 19, 2003, conducts the analysis of Libya nuclear programme sources, which began its nuclear programme development at the beginning of the 1970s with the advent of Muammar Gaddafi’s rule in Libya, traces the stages of the programme development, as well as the negotiations on the progressive reduction of the nuclear programme development, which eventually led to the historic decision of December 2003, reveals the motives and reasons of such Libyan leaders’ decision, and also the influence of the international community on it, and pays particular attention to the consideration of the interpretations of the refusal of MDW both from Libyan and western points of view.
