INNOVATIONS IN EMBROIDERY OF MORDOVIANS LIVING IN VLADIMIR AND MOSCOW REGIONS

Abstract. The research considers traditions and innovations in the folk embroidery of the Mordovians living in the central part of Russia: in Moscow and Vladimir regions. The aim is to describe and study the contemporary embroidery of the Mordovians from the regions under study, as well as to conduct its comparative analysis with traditional embroidery, which allows revealing innovations. This article for the first time describes and systematizes field material collected by ethnographers as a result of the expeditions of Research Institute of Classical Sciences under the Government of the Republic of Mordovia (headed by Prof. L. I. Nikonova) held in Vladimir region in 2011, and in Moscow region – in 2012.
