Dombrauskene Galina Nikolaevna
Maritime State University named after Admiral G. I. Nevel'skii

Abstract. The article pays attention to the role of biblical texts in the formation of the system of the ideas about music ministering in the Protestant environment. The texts of the Holy Scriptures became a guide to the implementation of both canonical and heuristic musical forms of worship. Actualized by religious leaders, they became the conceptual foundations of powerful cultural-creative process that occurred throughout the quincentenary history of the Protestant church. The article emphasizes the importance of the Book of Psalms, perceived as the standard of worship pleasing to God, as well as the religious-educational mission of German reformer Martin Luther, who made invaluable contribution to the formation and development of Protestantism musical culture.
