SOVIET LEGISLATION AND RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES (BY MATERIAL OF ORSHA VILLAGE OF MARI AUTONOMOUS REGION IN 1918-1929)

Abstract. The attempt to trace the changes in the legal status and actual situation of the parish in the RSFSR in 1918-1929 is made by the example of Orsha religious community in Mari Autonomous Region. The author considers the definition of the new legal status of the parish, the process of church property transfer to the faithful, the procedure of the state registration of the community, the features of the new parish charter and the conditions of the community’s administrative and economic life.
