METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS AND PROBLEMS OF POLITICAL EXTREMISM RESEARCH

Abstract. The article reveals the methodological foundations and problems of extremism research as a social-political phenomenon. The author pays special attention to the need to determine the interrelation and differentiation of the notions "extremism" and "radicalism". The essential features and structure of extremist activity subject’s consciousness in political sphere are revealed. The problem of violence and coercion in political discourse is analyzed. The definition of political extremism as an ideological and worldview phenomenon dialectically combining constructive and deconstructive principles is formulated.
