HELLENISM AND JUDAISM INTERACTION AS HISTORICAL-CULTURAL FACTOR OF BYZANTIUM EARLY CHRISTIAN CULTURE FORMATION

Abstract. Hellenism and Judaism cultures mutual influence is considered in the article as the early Christian culture formation premise. Christianity managed to integrate Hellenism and Judaism elements mainly thanks to the fact that the Judaic culture had been subjected to Hellenization process even before Jesus Christ was born. The experience of Christianity interaction with the Greek intellectual heritage was anticipated in Hellenized Judaism, which demonstrated the possibility of monotheistic religion synthesis with pagan philosophy. The Greeks and Jews’ cultural contacts research in the ancient epoch allows revealing the peculiarities of the Byzantine Empire Christian culture formation and development.
