ACTIVITY OF PARISH GUARDIANSHIPS OF DON AND NOVOCHERKASSK EPARCHIES IN SPHERE OF CHARITY AND PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN THE 1860-1870S

Abstract. The author discusses the activity of the parish guardianships under the Orthodox churches of Don and Novocherkassk Eparchies in the sphere of charity and public assistance in the 60-70s of the XIX th century, shows what place this work occupied among the other activity types of parish guardianships; reveals the forms of the socially-oriented activity practiced by the parish guardianships of Don Eparchy, and describes the experience of parish guardianships in the field of ??social assistance, giving the examples of concrete measures.
