EDUCATION STATE IN SOUTHERN BESSARABIA REGION AS PART OF MOLDAVIAN PRINCIPALITY AND ROMANIA (1857-1878)

Abstract. The author considers the state of educational sphere in Southern Bessarabia region as a part of the Moldavian principality and Romania (1857-1878), and substantiates the thesis that intensified romanization that was accompanied by the compulsory study of the state language, contributed to the worsening of educational level both in the region as a whole, and among its urban population in particular.
