FAIRS IN KURSK AND VORONEZH PROVINCES IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX TH – THE BEGINNING OF THE XX TH CENTURY AS PROVINCIAL MERCHANTS’ BUSINESS ACTIVITY REALIZATION PLACE

Abstract. The author considers fairs in central agricultural provinces – Kursk and Voronezh – as a phenomenon of provincial commercial life in the second half of the XIX th – the beginning of the XX th century, shows the change in the public estimations of fair trade at the turn of the centuries, describes the specificity of merchant trade in regional fairs, and shows the advantages of fair trade in comparison with the stationary forms of trade for local merchants.
