BOHEMIAN BROTHERS’ HYMN CREATION ROLE IN PROTESTANTISM MUSICAL CULTURE FORMATION

Abstract. The article considers the distinctive religious group of Jan Hus followers – the Bohemian Brothers, whose hymn heritage became one of the most considerable bases of the musical culture of Protestantism. In liturgical practice the community actively cultivated spiritual singing in the form of folk songs in the local language, which contributed to the inflow of rich melodic material, which was widely recognized and used in the environment of many Protestant denominations, as well as in the professional music creative work of subsequent centuries.
