"CELESTIAL" AND "TERRESTRIAL" IN GOD’S MOTHER’S IMAGE DEVELOPMENT AT THE END OF ARS ANTIQUA

Abstract. The article is devoted to considering the phenomenon taking one of the central places in the figurative-artistic system of the Christian art – to aesthetic Mariology. The chosen aspect of the research is the plot-subject complex development devoted to Maria in church-singing direction at the final stage of Ars Antiqua. The key significance of the interaction of the "formal" (the counterpoint development of Paris school Notre Dame) and "substantial" (the world-view influences of monastic movements) aspects of late-medieval religious creativity in the evolution of musical art forms devoted to Maria is emphasized.
