Abstract. In the article the analysis of the distinctive features of the Mongol book decorative design is presented by the example of three versions of the popular Buddhism literature sample "Legends about Molon-Toyin" widely spread among the Mongolian-language peoples. The author for the first time reveals and substantiates the ways and methods of graphic means used in the book illustration. On the basis of the presented research the conclusion is made that the traditional Mongol book image is determined by the book form originality – traditional botkhi, special calligraphic style of script and the colour richness of illustrations typical of the Buddhist painting.
