PERSONALITY AND DOCTRINE OF ST. SERGIUS OF RADONEZH IN SPIRITUAL SPACE OF THE RUSSIAN NORTH

Abstract. The article touches on the representation of the image of Sergius of Radonezh in the architecture, icon painting and easel painting, world outlook of the North. The problem of the research sounds as follows: the formation of the artistic and spiritual space of the Russian North. The goal of the paper is to identify the role of St. Sergius in the intension of this space developing. The author introduces the terms "spiritual space of the North" and "synergy of culture". The researcher concludes that the personality and doctrine of Sergius of Radonezh became a timeless foundation for the formation of the spiritual space of the North, the synergy of northern creativity.
