Abstract. The article considers the issue of the criminalistic research of iris. Particular attention is paid to the influence of various physical, chemical and biological factors on iris pattern. A series of experiments with the aim to ascertain the influence of some factors (eye rotation angle, lighting and so on) on its characteristics is described. The obtained results allow studying the properties of the object important in terms of identification aspect.
