POLICE AS SOCIAL INSTITUTION (THEORETICAL-METHODOLOGICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS)

Abstract. The article clarifies the concept "social institution" and introduces the broad and narrow definitions of police as a social institution. From the viewpoint of structural-functional, neo-institutional and sociocultural approaches the author reveals the social, normative-value and personal aspects of police. In the context of the mentioned approach the researcher concludes on the necessity for the systemic application of social and administrative mechanism for strengthening the professional and personal interest of policemen.
