Abstract. In the article the historical preconditions of folk artistic trades and handicrafts formation that can be found in the history of the migratory culture of Altai of the XVIII th-XIX th centuries are considered. The main types of artistic trades and the local features of the folk object environment of Altai are characterized. The geography of traditional artistic trades and handicrafts spreading within the territory under research is determined. The factors that influenced the development of trades and the processes that promoted their disappearance are revealed.
