Abstract. The article researches the process of the activity of the Composers’ Union regional departments on the development of the Ural musical art. The thematic diversity of the musical works created by the Ural composers is characterized. The composers’ work on keeping creative contacts with theatres, concert organizations, and mass media is studied. The problems in the work of the Ural departments of the Composers’ Union are revealed. The main directions of work on population’s aesthetic education are determined.
