RUSSIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY ON PROBLEM OF OVERCOMING TOTALITARIAN PAST IN GERMANY AND ITS RELATION TO REUNIFICATION PROCESS IN 1989-1990

Abstract. The problem of totalitarianism as a phenomenon of the XX th century received special attention of historians, politologists and philosophers. In this regard an interesting topic for research within the context of the contemporary German history study is the problem of overcoming totalitarian past during the period before and after the reunification of Germany in 1989-1990. The paper concentrates on the Russian scientists’ views on the problem of overcoming totalitarian past in Germany and its relation to the reunification of Germany in 1989-1990. The analysis of the Russian scientists’ concepts allows understanding how national historiography on the given problem originated.
