Shakhov Pavel Sergeevich
Novosibirsk State Glinka Conservatory

Abstract. The article analyzes the musical stylistics of the wedding lamentations of the Siberian Mordvins-Erzya on the basis of archival sources. For the first time the paper makes an attempt to compare the local Siberian traditions of the Mordvinian settlers by the material of wedding lamentations. The analysis testifies that in the Altaic and Kemerovo tunes the principle of compensation functions, which consists in the varied correlation of the integrity and diversity of tonal and rhythmical forms at various stages of the ritual cycle. From the viewpoint of the correlation of song and lamentation forms in wedding ritual the Siberian materials are typologically integrated with the maternal Volga region tradition.
