SAMUEL SCHEIDT’S CHORAL CONCERTS AND WAYS OF VOCAL RELIGIOUS CONCERT GENRE DEVELOPMENT IN GERMANY IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE XVII CENTURY

Girfanova Marina Evgen'evna
Kazan State Conservatoire (Academy) named after N. G. Zhiganov

Abstract. In the article the evolution of the composer’s creative work of Samuel Scheidt in the sphere of religious vocal-choral genres is revealed that reflects the general tendencies of the German Protestant polyphonic music development in the first half of the XVII century. In Scheidt’s vocal collections, published from 1620 till 1640, the regeneration of motet, traditional for the German music, in a new genre - vocal concert, which appeared under the influence of the Italian concert style, - is traced. The social-political reasons are analyzed that conditioned the German musicians’ interest transfer from the so called large concert to the small one. Special attention is paid to the choral concert - the specifically German genre variety of the vocal concert - little-studied in the native musicology and to its significance for Scheidt’s creative work.
