ETYMOLOGY OF TOPONYM "БОЛХОВЕЦ" (BOLKHOVETS)

Abstract. In this article the etymology of the toponym Болховец (Bolkhovets), a town-fortress (then a village) of Belgorod boundary that was founded in 1646, is considered. On the basis of historical and etymological analysis by concrete historical material the authors offer their own version of the name origin of the town-fortress Bolkhovets from the earlier toponyms fixed in the written sources of the beginning of the XVII century.
