TEACHERS’ ECONOMIC WELFARE OF THE UKRAINIAN SSR IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 1950S - THE FIRST HALF OF THE 1960S

Abstract. In the article the results of the research of the economic component of the everyday life of the Ukrainian SSR teachers in the second half of the 1950s - the first half of the 1960s are presented. The author considers the main factors, which determined the teachers’ level of economic condition: salary, housing conditions, municipal provision, the use of plots of land. In the work the comparative analysis of two systems of salary calculation to the teachers that were in force in 1948 and in 1964 is carried out; conditions, which influenced the giving out of money remuneration for work, are studied. The author gives a characteristic to the main contradictions that existed in housing and communal provision for the teachers. In the research, on the basis of prices analysis set to consumer goods in the investigated period, the teachers’ level of purchasing capacity is also identified.
