SCIENTISM CRISIS AS RESULT OF DISAPPOINTMENT IN SCIENCE

Abstract. The article discusses reasons for changes in attitude towards science in the second half of the XX - at the beginning of the XXI century. The author argues that among the factors that led to the crisis of scientism one can note epistemological ones including the crisis of scientific rationality, and philosophical-anthropological and socio-cultural reasons caused by disappointment in science and fear before rapidly developing technologies, especially genetic engineering and other biotechnologies, that a considerable part of the population of civilized countries has.
