A. RUTIN, P. VINOGRADOV, M. SHAPIRO: THE RUSSIAN PIANO SCHOOL IN FORMATION OF THE JAPANESE MUSICAL CULTURE

Aizenshtadt Sergei Abramovich
Far Eastern State Academy of Art

Abstract. The article is devoted to the Russian pianists, who immigrated to Japan after the revolution of 1917. The author evaluates the contribution of A. Rutin, P. Vinogradov and M. Shapiro in the Japanese musical culture. Some aspects of their activity are analyzed for the first time in domestic scientific literature. The paper shows the interrelation of their work in Japan with the traditions of the Russian piano school. The author concludes that the musicians continued to feel themselves a part of the Russian space and at the same time they perceived the culture of Japan as one in many ways near to them. The latter is related to the basic features of the Russian cultural consciousness.
