Astrakhan State University

Abstract. The article is devoted to analyzing the specifics of cross-cultural communications in the period of early frontier in the Caucasus. The authors identify three vectors of this process. The first one is associated with communications, which form a certain cross-cultural community based on mutual advantage and assistance. These cross-cultural communications are accompanied with religious, vestimentary and alimentary transgression. Within the framework of the second vector cross-cultural communications are characterized by internal cultural conflicts astride the frontier. The third vector is the beginning of severe cross-cultural conflicts signifying transition to a new stage, frontier proper.
