GENERAL NOTION OF CHINESE TRADITIONAL CULTURE IN CHINESE SOCIAL AND HUMANITIES COGNITION

Abstract. In the article the origin and transformation of the notion of culture in Chinese social and humanities cognition are analyzed. The analysis is conducted on the basis of Chinese literary sources. The author draws attention to differences in the origin of the term "culture" in western/Russian and Chinese cultures. The researcher believes that differences in the genesis of the notion "culture" in the end led to the emergence of cultural differences between China and Europe. Basing on the conducted analysis the author specifies the modern conceptions of Chinese traditional culture.
