FORMATION OF GENRE OF ROMANTIC PIANO ETUDE IN RUSSIA OF THE END OF THE XIX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. In the article the panorama of the formation and development of the genre of piano etude in Russia of the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century is presented. The author proposes a typology of the genre of piano etude, and identifies two branches in the development of the genre: vocal interpretation proceeding from the immanent properties of the grand piano in the manner of Chopin and the orchestral interpretation of the piano in the spirit of Liszt. From this perspectives in the work the etude creativity of such Russian composers as A. G. Rubinstein, S. M. Lyapunov, and A. S. Arensky is considered; the features of their styles are analyzed, and the characteristics of the main types of etude genre are suggested.
