THE PARTY OF "REPUBLICANS" OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY: BETWEEN RIGHT-WING CONSERVATISM AND RIGHT-WING RADICALISM
Shcherbakov Vyacheslav Yur'evich Southern Federal University
Abstract. The article considers the problem of the evolution of the party of "Republicans" of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is emphasized that, in spite of the attempts to position themselves as conservative opposition to the CDU/CSU, the "Republicans" have been a part of the moderate wing of the radical right-wing movement of modern Germany. At the same time they have failed to keep their niche in the country’s political system that they occupied in the 1980s. The author believes that a small party, which can’t offer the voters an original political program, has no serious political prospects.
